The Ningaloo Reef

The Ningaloo Reef, situated out from the Cape Range National Park the largest fringing coral reef in Australia. It is the only large reef in the world found so close to a continental land mass; about 100 meters offshore at its nearest point and less than seven kilometers at it’s furthest.This pristine reef is home to 180 species of coral, ranging from the cabbage corals, brain corals, lavender corals, delicate colourful branching corals, which form gardens in the shallow lagoons.

Clownfish, attractive lionfish and moray eels are just some of hundreds of species of colourful tropical fish that can be seen. The coral reef fish of Ningaloo are among the most colourful and beautifully patterned of all sea creatures. The best thing about the Ningaloo Reef is that it is so accessible form the shore! It truly is breathtaking and will blow you away!

Cape Range National Park

The Cape Range National Park is by far one of the most impressive stretches of coastline in Western Australia. Located on the Nor West side of the peninsula the Cape Range National Park offers something for everyone.

From the beautiful rugged gorges surrounding the magical Yardie Creek, to the pristine, world renowned snorkeling beaches such as Turquoise and Sandy Bay you will be truly amazed! There is an abundance of wildlife including a variety of birds, emus, euros and red kangaroos commonly sighted. Cape Range National Park is also home to the rare black footed rock wallaby. Cape Range offers a variety of attractions and activities for visitors interested in the natural environment and is a must when visiting Exmouth.

Cape Range National Park is open 24 hours a day and a CALM ranger is posted at the gate from 8am till 3.30pm every day.

  • $5 per adult/ night for camp sites. There are limited spaces as each camp site. Need to pay ranger at the gate or at the camp sites.

Things you should know

  • There is an hour and a half drive between Exmouth and Coral Bay
  • We have NO wet season
  • We have world class snorkeling and fishing available right from the beach!
  • There is minimal travel time via boat to the reef as it is located so close to shore!

Climate

Exmouth has an perfect climate! There is no wet season so it is dry and warm all year round! This means you can still snorkel and work on your sun tan throughout the winter months! In winter the days usually range somewhere in the mid 20’s (degrees celsius) whilst during summer days the temperature ranges from the mid 30’s to low 40’s at it’s hottest.

Fortunately there are many ways to get to Exmouth.

Aeroplane

Skywest provides a comfortable air service with flights that depart daily. The flight attendants are gorgeous and the service is excellent. Contact www.skywest.com.au for more information.

On the road

Exmouth is approximately a 13 hour drive direct from Perth, however if you have a little time up your sleeve there are heaps of other special places to stop a long the way. Swim with the Dolphins at Monkey Mia if traveling from the South, or Explore the breathtaking Karrajini Gorge if traveling from the North. If you are travelling north to Exmouth along the North West Coastal Highway, travel 152 km north of Carnarvon and turn left at the Minilya Exmouth Road. From here it is 200 km to Exmouth townsite. If you are travelling south to Exmouth turn off the North West Coastal Highway 110km south of the Nanutarra Roadhouse onto Burkett Road. From here it’s 80 km to the Minilya Exmouth Road. At this junction, turn right to Exmouth (89 km).
